GIS-Based Analysis of Alcohol-Related Traffic Accidents

Project Objective

The goal of this project is to examine trends (or lack thereof) between bar locations and car-pedestrian collisions involving alcohol intoxication. To simplify the scope of the project, only instances of pedestrian intoxication will be considered. Thus by eliminating factors such as traffic volume and drunk driving, attention can be focused on the pedestrian element independent of other factors. Our hypothesis is that accidents involving drunk pedestrians are more likely to be in the proximity of local bars.
